Should You Drink Green Juice?

Should you drink Green Juice? 5/5 experts say yes.

The tally is in, and green juice is a go, say all five of time health's experts.

Time Health writer: Mandy Oaklander says, a store-bought, veggie-heavy green juice can contain 36% of your daily recommended potassium and 20% of daily vitamin a, with 12 grams of natural sugar, no fat and 4 grams of protein. Juicing your own fresh glass will net far more nutrients.

“Veggie juice is very healthy,” Barry Popkin, PhD, professor of nutrition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health, tells Oaklander. And way healthier, he says, than fruit drinks, or fruit smoothies.

Unlike drinks made purely from juicing fruit products which can cause a lot of sugar to rush into the bloodstream, green juice and other juices made solely from vegetables are lower in sugar, and therefore  much healthier on the body.

The recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetable 5-10 servings per day, which is tough to meet, but with juicing you can get three to four full servings in one glass.

If you don’t have time for all the prep work involved in shopping, blending, juicing and clean-up,(and you don’t want to spend $6/bottle at the store),  there are still some great ways to receive all the benefits of green juice by simply mixing a small scoop of green juice supplement into a glass of water.

Some of the very best organic Green drinks are available today in this form, for people with busy lifestyles who still want to reward themselves with all the benefit of drinking nutrient rich Green drinks.

Some benefits of Green Drinks include mental stability, high energy, better focus, improved overall health including a stronger immunity system, naturally balanced hormones, stress reduction and detoxification – resulting in healthy, fresh, younger looking skin, hair and nails.

I recommend Organifi as one of the best supplement Green Juice drinks on the market today. it is affordably priced and if you don't have time to shop, blend or juice, a quick scoop of Organifi in a glass of water and away you go.

Aside from loading their product with the most healthy Superfood ingredients available in green foods, they have infused their product with coconut water crystals, which helps improve nutrient absorption, plus they add Ashwagandha and Turmeric.

What the heck are Ashwagandha and Tumeric? Quite simply, two of nature’s most powerful botanicals!

Here is a list of some of the best ingredients to include in your Green Juice, along with their health benefits. Keeping in mind Organifi is rich in all of these ingredients, so whether drinking Organifi alone, or adding it to the blend of fruit and vegetables you are blending, the following nutrients will kick-start your health, strength and longevity – every day of your life!!

Moringa - contains all the essential amino acids needed by the body. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins which are needed to grow, repair and maintain cells.

Mint - we all know this herb as a fragrant addition to popular dishes and drinks. The mint leaf has been used the world over for aiding in the occasional indigestion, cramps, whitening teeth, and as a sleep aid

Matcha Green Tea - a common refreshment in Japanese Monasteries, Matcha is high in an antioxidant called EGCG which reduces stress, regulates hormones within normal ranges, and reduces appetite.

Ashwagandha - Ashwagandha is an adaptogen which is made of a combination of amino acids, vitamins, and herbs that help modulate your response to stress or a changing environment. Adaptogens help the body cope with external stresses such as toxins in the environment and internal stresses.

Lemon - you may not know this, but this citrus fruit has incredible appetite fighting effects, and has been known to cool and alkalize the body. This is crucial for stabilizing your blood-sugar already within normal ranges

Chlorella - a green algae super high in protein and healthy polyunsaturated fats.

Spirulina - a good source for plant protein! Spirulina is also high in iron and calcium. The aztecs first discovered this food in Central America, and they consumed it daily for energy and strength.

Beets - are high in folate and manganese. Many people don’t care for the texture of raw beets, however, the isolated juice tastes great in the mix and is a nutritious super ingredient.

Wheatgrass - known as the "life-blood" of plant life. Even the ancient Egyptians worshipped this food for it's positive health benefits.

Turmeric – this spice contains powerful antioxidants.

Coconut water - this natural refreshment is high in potassium and assists in the transport of all of the above ingredients throughout the blood stream.

Worried about over-doing it, or that eating fresh vegetables is a better choice?

Well, most of us, of course, aren't anywhere close to overdosing on vegetables! In fact, according to the USDA, the average American eats less than half of the recommended amount of vegetables every day, and only 10% of what we do eat is dark green.

“It is better to eat than to drink veggies and fruits,” says Dr. David Katz, Director of the Yale University Prevention Research Center. “But it is better to drink them than not to have them at all.”
